Olives with the “Manzanilla and Gordal Protected Geographical Identification of Seville”

Video issued on October 6, 2019, which referred to the 2019 campaign.

Manzanilla olive harvest at the “El Verdial” farm in “La Puebla De Cazalla” (Seville). Many of the harvested olives will be the first to be able to bear the “Manzanilla and Gordal de Sevilla Protected Geographical Identification” which also guarantees quality, origin and Sevillian-style production. The "Cooperativa Nuestra Señora de Las Virtudes" merged with the "Cooperativa San José", both from "La Puebla De Cazalla" (Seville), have formed "Oleand", which has become the most important first grade cooperative of greening Andalusia and the second oil mill. "Oleand" has been registered with the "Regulatory Council of the Manzanilla and Gordal PGI of Seville". But not everyone agrees with these PGIs. There are those who believe that they limit rights that belong to the entire sector. The "Spanish Association of Exporters and Manufacturers of Table Olives", the "Junta de Extremadura" and the "Association of Olive Manufacturers of Almendralejo" have taken this issue to court. Interventions: Antonio Cobo (Farmer), Juan Antonio Pachón (Olivarero) Juan Luís Oropesa (President of the "Manzanilla and Gordal de Sevilla IGP Regulatory Council"), Rosario Acosta (General Secretary of the "Manzanilla y Gordal de Sevilla IGP Regulatory Council"), José Antonio Cruz (Co-Manager “Oleand”), José Vázquez (ASAJA Technician). The IGP Manzanilla and Gordal Olives from Seville premieres in an excellent quality campaign

News about our sector in the 2019 campaign.

Table olives are one of the products most affected by Trump's tariff hike. As reported by the TVE program Agroesfera, this adds to a very weak greening campaign, the lowest in ten years. The good news of this campaign is the excellent quality, a very positive fact because these will be the first olives protected under the quality mark Protected Geographical Indication Manzanilla Gordal Olive of Seville, as they assure in Agroesfera from the Regulatory Council, whose objective is to put in value these olives with this distinctive stamp.
