AionSur oil-guide Prodetur takes a guide to the entire offer of oil and olives in the province of Seville Prodetur
\nThe president of the Diputaci\u00f3n, Fernando Rodr\u00edguez Villalobos, has presented the 'Guide to Olive Oil and Table Olives of the Province of Seville'. This publication, edited by Prodetur, has new content, and the current existing offer in the territory around these two emblematic products of Sevillian gastronomy and agro-industry.<\/p>\n
At the event, Villalobos was accompanied by the president of the Sevillana Academy of Gastronomy and Tourism, Julio Moreno; the president of the IGP Manzanilla y Gordal de Sevilla, Juan Luis Oropesa; and the president of the Hospitality Association, Antonio Luque.<\/p>\n
"A renewed commitment to the promotion of a strategic sector in the province and that, in addition, speaks of reference products of our gastronomic tradition and culture," said Villalobos. Who has also recalled that the Sevillian agri-food sector represents around 25 % of the Andalusian total.<\/p>\n
Leader
\nIn this context, Seville is among the three main provinces in olive oil production. They are followed by C\u00f3rdoba and Ja\u00e9n, which is the leader. Regarding table olives, Seville stands out as the first producing province. The 60 % of all Spanish production is collected. It also stands out with more than a hundred entamadoras (transformation industries), which represent around 60 % of the total in the region.<\/p>\n
"We also want to reflect in this guide the tourist opportunities that the olive grove offers in the context of what we call Oleotourism, with the possibility of visiting olive farms, an ethnographic heritage very present in our landscape and our culture."<\/p>\n
PGI Manzanilla and Gordal of Seville
\nThe president of the Diputaci\u00f3n indicated that with this guide the Diputaci\u00f3n wants to \u201cwelcome and support\u201d the recently created IGP Aceituna Manzanilla and Gordal de Sevilla, \u201can instrument to strategically position these two varieties of Sevillian olives, with all the social benefits and economic that this can contribute to our province \u201d.<\/p>\n
It is diverse. In the different chapters, the guide reviews the importance of olive grove cultivation, both in the culture and in the economy of the province. It even stops to analyze its cosmetic uses.<\/p>\n
Sections
\nThe guide includes specific sections on the varieties of olives and types of olive oil. Also, a recipe book of traditional dishes based on olive oil and also on table olives.<\/p>\n
The publication, which is available for download on the Tourism website of the Province of Seville-Prodetur (www.turismosevilla.org<\/a> ), closes with a chapter with the relationship of olive oil and table olive producing companies in the province, which specifies, among other aspects, which of them organize guided tours or tastings, and which are attached to the geographical promotion brand 'Sabores de la Provincia de Sevilla'.<\/p>\nShare it:<\/h3>
